What is Yunnan Baiyao (Blue Box):
Yunnan Baiyao is a traditional Chinese herbal formula used to promote internal and external health. The product is used worldwide for human and veterinary use to support blood homeostasis and wound healing.
Yunnan Baiyao is made from precious herbal materials indigenous to Yunnan. It has a 100 year history of herbal practice that has demonstrated its legendary effectiveness. Yunnan Baiyao won the Chinese National Gold Medal for its high quality in 1979, 1984, and 1989.
Active Ingredients in Yunnan Baiyao (Blue Box):
Dried extract of the following blend of ingredients: Tienchi Ginseng (San-Qi) Root, Chinese Yam (Shan-Yao) Root, Dioscorea nipponica (Chuan-Shan) Root, Geranium thunbergii (Zhong-Ri-Lao-Guan-Cao) Aerial Parts and Borneolum Syntherticum. Propritory blend.
Dosage Instructions for Yunnan Baiyao (Blue Box):
Every dog and every case is unique. Ultimately, you want to find the lowest dosage needed to control bleeding; for some dogs this will be 1 capsule every other day, for others it may be 4 capsules 4x a day.
Please consult with a veterinarian about the appropriate dosage for your pet.
Here are the general dosing guidelines:

For dogs under 10 lbs, give 1 capsule by mouth one time a day

For dogs 10 to 30 lbs, give 1 capsule by mouth two times a day

For dogs above 30 but less than 60 lbs, give 2 capsules two times a day

For dogs about 60 lbs, give 2 capsules three times a day
*Do not give Yunnan Baiyao on an ongoing basis. It is best to give it on alternating days, or for a 5-day on, 5-day off cycle that repeats. There is some possible evidence that this medicine may elevate liver markers if given daily for prolonged periods of time.

Our 14 year old dog started to have heavy nasal bleeding probably from a tumor. The vet gave this to try and it truly works if given 12 hrs apart.
